Trinidad is one of the twin islands in Southern Caribbean and it is a continuation of Mount Andes. Pitch Lake is the largest of three asphalt lakes in the world. The surface of the lake is firm enough for walking. The pools collected in the cracks have sulphuric acid and the water is renowned to have some healing properties.

Trinity hills wild life sanctuary was established in the year 1934. It covers approximately 16000 acres. The sanctuary is a home for rare species like red howler monkeys, elusive ocelots and deer. Caroni bird sanctuary is a fantastic tourist spot in Trinidad. It spreads over 40 kilometers and it is a habitat of 160 species of birds. Scarlet Ibis, the native bird of Trinidad captures the attention of all the tourists. Trinidad is a paradise for bird lovers. The sanctuary is a home to crab eating raccoons, mongoose and anteaters.

Aripo caves in Trinidad is a home to large colony of oilbirds. They are the only nocturnal, fruit eating bird in the world. Oilbirds are renowned for their echo locating capability as well. Mayora beach in Trinidad is yet another exciting place to visit. The secluded beach gives great relaxation to the tourists. Manzanilla beach is a brownish, grey and sand stripped beach and it is a place of attraction to many tourists.
